The MINI All4 will replace an outgoing 2010 BMW X3CC.<br /><br />The Mini benefits from larger air intakes, a one-piece bonnet and a revised and improved ventilation system using a front air intake and a roof intake. Visibility inside the Mini All4 Racing is not on a par with the BMW X3 CC and entry and exit of the vehicle for the occupants is slightly more difficult, but Quandt is delighted with general improvements nonetheless.<br /><br />The skin of the Mini, for example, can be changed within less than 30 minutes. The BMW X3 CC was developed over a period of five years and all this development has been utilised by the "Mini All4 Racing". The event starts in Buenos Aires on New Year's Day and finishes in the Argentine capital on Sunday, January 16th, 2011.<br /><br />The new MINI All4 Racing will form part of X-raid's seven-car Dakar team - the largest ever entered by a team in the 33-year history of the world's most famous off-road rally - and the third of three vehicles running on the event under the Monster Energy X-raid Team banner.<br /><br />X-raid team director Sven Quandt began looking at the feasibility of the project in 2009 and held initial discussions with automotive engineering and manufacturing company Magna Steyr and BMW to see whether the new model was a realistic replacement for the BMW/MINI X3 CC - which has earned the<br /><br />Trebur-based team three successive FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rally titles since 2008.<br /><br />Quandt received the green light for the new project from BMW in June 2010 and Magna Steyr gave their full approval on September 24th. Initial plans for the new project were discussed at length throughout October in Graz, Austria.<br /><br />The MINI Design team and Magna have managed the design of the vehicle. Quandt and engineer Martin Ertl, a former X-raid staff engineer who also manages a Formula 3 racing team, have overseen the new project on behalf of X-raid.<br /><br />Construction of the new MINI All4 Racing cross-country rally car began in November and has continued into December. The car will be put through a first series of tests in France on December 13/14th. It will then be transported by airfreight to South America for final preparations for scrutineering in Buenos Aires at the end of the month.<br /><br />The MINI will be powered by variable twin-turbo diesel engine that is fitted to the 2011-specification BMW X3 CC and built in Steyr the same place as the MINI and BMW diesel engines are made. The power unit delivers in the region of 315hp and 710Nm of torque. This is an increase compared to the output of the 2010-specification BMW X3 CCs used on the Dakar Rally to seal fourth and fifth places last January.<br /><br />"This is a major development in cross-country rallying and something of which we are very excited," admitted Quandt. "There has been a very short time between the decision to go ahead and the roll out for the next Dakar, but we are confident that the new MINI All4 Racing will be competitive out of the ‘box.<br />www.x-raid.de<br />"Compared to the BMW X3CC, the MINI will be characterised by improved handling as the overall length is shorter and it is lower. We have also been able to improve on many other smaller details, such as the relocation of smaller components to lower the centre of gravity."<br /><br />The MINI benefits from larger air intakes, a one-piece bonnet and a revised and improved ventilation system using a front air intake and a roof intake. Visibility inside the MINI All4 Racing is not on a par with the BMW X3 CC and entry and exit of the vehicle for the occupants is slightly more difficult, but Quandt is delighted with general improvements nonetheless.<br /><br />Quandt confirms that the MINI All4 Racing is 10 cm shorter than the BMW X3 CC, about 3 cm lower than its predecessor and has a 10 cm reduced rear overhang when compared to the BMW.<br /><br />Magna Steyr under the project lead of Hermann Pecnik has been responsible for concept design, the technical drawings and calculations, as well as the production data and compliance with stringent FIA regulations governing cross-country motor sport<br /><br />The frame and chassis components were designed by Büren-based Heggemann Autosport GmbH and Faster worked on the complete carbon-kevlar body and provided Magna-Steyr with assistance on the construction of the MINI.<br /><br />Quandt reckons that the MINI All4 Racing is more service friendly than the X3 CC, as all the body panels can be removed within minutes to give easier access to important mechanical components. G-Power decided to modify the supercharger system on the 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine of the BMW Z4.<br /><br />These new figures enable the G POWER BMW Z4 3.0i to sprint from 0 to 100 Km/h in 5.4 seconds and the modifications consists of a new, perfected SK Plus 'Sporty Drive' supercharger system built from scratch and a hand built rear sport silencer made from stainless steel.<br /><span class="fullpost"><br />The parts used for the G-Power BMW Z4 3.0i can also be fitted to the application of the same engine in the BMW E46 330i, which will offer the same amount of power. Apart from the supercharger system, the G-Power BMW Z4 3.0i is also fitted with a coil-over suspension with 9-way adjustable compression and rebound and a new exhaust system with 4 x 76 mm tail pipes. <br /><br />The price for the package is 2,500 euro and can also be applied to the BMW 3 Series E46. However, if you are looking for some serious power then potential customers should also take a look at the BMW Z4 by Hamann. This kit provides the roadster with 360 kicking ponies and strips away the top speed limiter. Really the preference between these two models comes down to customer preference. All components have been developed from scratch or extensively revised based on our many years of experience. The resulting components are manufactured using state-of-the-art production processes. The supercharger mounting plate and the complete air ducting, for example, are made from lightweight cast aluminium. Plus, all parts of the SK Plus “Sporty Drive” system made from sheet metal are CNC laser cut from non-corroding materials. Due to our investment in sophisticated tooling and equipment, as well as our high-volume manufacturing setup, we are able to offer consistent quality at a considerably lower price.<br /><br />Moreover, thanks to the complete redevelopment of the system, its overall part count has been reduced, further simplifying the installation of the SK Plus “Sporty Drive” system. An optimized storage facility means that the availability of the system has been improved, facilitating dispatch usually within 1-2 days after receipt of order.<br /><br />Like its “big brother” the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RR, the heart of the system is an OE-quality supercharger from renowned German manufacturer ASA Kompressor GmbH. The all-new ASA T3-313 replaces the previous ASA TM3 supercharger. Optimization of the geometry of the compressor and its housing, originally developed for the record-breaking vehicle, enable earlier and even more efficient build-up of boost pressure, thus ensuring outstanding pulling power in the middle of the rev range. At full revs, the G-POWER SK Plus supercharger system achieves an increase in output of up to 55 hp compared with the series-production version, at a relative boost pressure of only 0.3 bar. Fitted to the 3.0l engine in the BMW Z4 3.0i or the BMW E46 330i, maximum output climbs to ca. 210 kW/286 hp and 345 Nm of torque.<br /><br />More important to the customer than the naked figures, however, is the power delivery – i.e. the experience generated by this additional output. The key here is the term “Sporty Drive”. In the specification for every tuning program undertaken by G-POWER, this aspect is afforded the same priority as the target power increase itself.<br /><br />The very first thing you notice behind the wheel of a BMW Z4 E85 or a BMW 3 Series E46 with a G-POWER SK Plus supercharger system is the extremely sporty throttle response. Every input from the gas pedal is translated immediately into forward propulsion, without the lag usually associated even with modern turbocharged engines. The driver’s command is proportionally and instantaneously implemented. One further characteristic of mechanical supercharging using the ASA radial supercharger is the outstanding torque in the middle of the rev range, which is particularly impressive during overtaking manoeuvres. This lively response from mid-range revs increases continuously until engine speed peaks, which is also where maximum boost pressure is achieved.
