MICHAEL PHELPS

<span style="font-weight: bold;"><br />Michael Fred Phelps </span>born June 30, 1985 is an <span style="font-style: italic;">American swimmer</span> who has, overall, won 16 Olympic medals—six gold and two bronze at Athens in 2004, and eight gold at Beijing in 2008, becoming the most successful athlete at both of these Olympic Games editions. In doing so he has twice equaled the record eight medals of any type at a single Olympics achieved by Soviet gymnast Alexander Dityatin at the 1980 Moscow Summer Games. His five golds in individual events tied the single Games record set by Eric Heiden in the 1980 Winter Olympics and equaled by Vitaly Scherbo at the 1992 Summer Games. Phelps holds the record for the most gold medals won in a single Olympics, his eight at the 2008 Beijing Games surpassed American swimmer Mark Spitz's seven-gold performance at Munich in 1972. Phelps Olympic medal total is second only to the 18 Soviet gymnast Larissa Latynina won over three Olympics, including nine gold.<br /><br />Phelps's international titles and record breaking performances have earned him the World Swimmer of the Year Award six times and American Swimmer of the Year Award eight times. He has won a total of fifty-nine medals in major international competition, fifty gold, seven silver, and two bronze spanning the Olympics, the World, and the Pan Pacific Championships. His unprecedented Olympic success in 2008 earned Phelps Sports Illustrated magazine's Sportsman of the Year award.<br /><br />After the 2008 Summer Olympics, Phelps started the Michael Phelps Foundation, which focuses on growing the sport of swimming and promoting healthier lifestyles. As a participant in the US Anti-Doping Agency's "Project Believe" program, Phelps is regularly tested to ensure that his system is clean of performance-enhancing drugs.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMS9RpHbOrfE3OdEduvvZOMXUymIuhahD0irtuIAmA7D0-ROieO-DMVtruS1fWKKyxqj86KDXPvLrEV-f9bdBrHPmCfPkCboOZ4DMGFGBAVhVL7wtTBim90NlkG9iPrjxj2YBzZelxvfSf/s400/6_3_michael_phelps.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMS9RpHbOrfE3OdEduvvZOMXUymIuhahD0irtuIAmA7D0-ROieO-DMVtruS1fWKKyxqj86KDXPvLrEV-f9bdBrHPmCfPkCboOZ4DMGFGBAVhVL7wtTBim90NlkG9iPrjxj2YBzZelxvfSf/s400/6_3_michael_phelps.jpg" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 412px; height: 400px; text-align: center;" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGMS2IVAOeDs7RR80_rNgT6NgKv8Eczzo_pyQW4AR01DWC4Ku8gPMLDb6Gbm1cpyjw_YnZxCWPYiE6JsgmdLPCcfZVu33SOHP6BdixzmlH4YLTkmJpsFhMRFBr6WsX51U1soCBI2wuFtQ/s400/phelpsOB-CA391_0811ph_20080811000328.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGMS2IVAOeDs7RR80_rNgT6NgKv8Eczzo_pyQW4AR01DWC4Ku8gPMLDb6Gbm1cpyjw_YnZxCWPYiE6JsgmdLPCcfZVu33SOHP6BdixzmlH4YLTkmJpsFhMRFBr6WsX51U1soCBI2wuFtQ/s400/phelpsOB-CA391_0811ph_20080811000328.jpg" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 410px; height: 300px; text-align: center;" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVpcjIu6NFdqHtOYpMxpRI-uQcnDoc70pviMjkhiS6dJprsI61gHwwXOJhHEtcySxMR-rN-rYQTK6tcwcqphAIV1YW6Ch4_KsVBNyIqLic7mYIAnypJJPMM9uQjcB04qKHcolf4uHVzS4/s320-r/michael-phelps-speedo.png"><img alt="" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVpcjIu6NFdqHtOYpMxpRI-uQcnDoc70pviMjkhiS6dJprsI61gHwwXOJhHEtcySxMR-rN-rYQTK6tcwcqphAIV1YW6Ch4_KsVBNyIqLic7mYIAnypJJPMM9uQjcB04qKHcolf4uHVzS4/s320-r/michael-phelps-speedo.png" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 411px; height: 318px; text-align: center;" /></a> michael phelps<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP2y2A7nv3LNpK0Sb0Zu3JNVFNL1XY6n6Uc35_pVxO3LrncOoKR0ElPG-74NEwgxjq6bQtCD3AycCFGru5uUXyms5A3rV0w6eOJyj6HGK2xN7i4WkWdpnEhcJl0gyoxjq2ALI-YJx3d-w/s400/Michael+Phelps.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP2y2A7nv3LNpK0Sb0Zu3JNVFNL1XY6n6Uc35_pVxO3LrncOoKR0ElPG-74NEwgxjq6bQtCD3AycCFGru5uUXyms5A3rV0w6eOJyj6HGK2xN7i4WkWdpnEhcJl0gyoxjq2ALI-YJx3d-w/s400/Michael+Phelps.jpg" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 414px; height: 400px; text-align: center;" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYCGTH-6IaJ1gIPWGeFGcoteBkUs6OeJiYrRDTjNt8_PemAVrxHUFybOfxiQ0YuDOX439r55S9iDvX0r93LJlNAUGS7jqTprpXcV6RO8WiwF5uO49nFZfukQLrdlCg3akoqsW6XwWCiIQ/s400/michael_phelps300.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYCGTH-6IaJ1gIPWGeFGcoteBkUs6OeJiYrRDTjNt8_PemAVrxHUFybOfxiQ0YuDOX439r55S9iDvX0r93LJlNAUGS7jqTprpXcV6RO8WiwF5uO49nFZfukQLrdlCg3akoqsW6XwWCiIQ/s400/michael_phelps300.jpg" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 410px; height: 400px; text-align: center;" /></a>

In the process she reclaimed the world record from Hoff bettering the mark by 1.67 seconds, thus becoming the first woman to break the 4:30 in the event, (Kirsty Coventry also went under 4:30 in taking the silver).<a href="http://goalindo.blogspot.com/2011/02/stephanie-rice.html"><br /><br /></a><div class="post-header"> </div> <div class="post-body entry-content"> <a href="http://goalindo.blogspot.com/2011/02/stephanie-rice.html"><img alt="" border="0" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_QmykW6KKkJ4/SRqAyowpraI/AAAAAAAAbsg/zsQ_hQxVdTs/s800/Stephanie_Rice080823007.jpg" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 399px; height: 407px; text-align: center;" /></a><a href="http://goalindo.blogspot.com/2011/02/stephanie-rice.html"><br /></a><div><a href="http://goalindo.blogspot.com/2011/02/stephanie-rice.html"><br /></a><div><div><a href="http://goalindo.blogspot.com/2011/02/stephanie-rice.html"><img alt="" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTy53YV3wvKx_HvTNyVSRSJu1EYJ0tgAc2hjmqQH8x_WQjF0pE0gBAk169GNeSNbsWj6oBMrf6EdiW8u5e_WqfROWG7K0KhE_EU3EUYdSAII6ukm1C8ad8ZV1mAR3euMNG_h5N9qE_V-Q/s400/SydneyStephanie+Rice.jpg" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 410px; height: 400px; text-align: center;" /></a><a href="http://goalindo.blogspot.com/2011/02/stephanie-rice.html"><br /></a><div><a href="http://goalindo.blogspot.com/2011/02/stephanie-rice.html"><img alt="" border="0" src="http://olympicgirls.net/sport-girls/stephanie-rice.jpg" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 418px; height: 501px; text-align: center;" /></a><a href="http://goalindo.blogspot.com/2011/02/stephanie-rice.html"><br /></a><div><a href="http://goalindo.blogspot.com/2011/02/stephanie-rice.html"><img alt="" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixWFMzFXXhbKFZl5V4dF0WRt38W843ijLMdBzr4SmrmJUHgNl-ux8XHuqfprPycVmqYqacQmNzTzkE4Z3udRVTN1sebRxkceuEyq_-6l9NB2xLKNUGcWNd7hqvGIvryS-Yv8FLiaSUto8/s400/stephanie+rice+2.jpg" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 413px; height: 264px; text-align: center;" /></a><a href="http://goalindo.blogspot.com/2011/02/stephanie-rice.html"><br /></a><div><a href="http://goalindo.blogspot.com/2011/02/stephanie-rice.html"><img alt="" border="0" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_QmykW6KKkJ4/SRqAz58lexI/AAAAAAAAbs4/ztJ4PkgJzLs/s800/Stephanie_Rice080823010.jpg" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 438px; height: 346px; text-align: center;" /></a></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><span style="font-size:130%;"><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Personal life</span></span><br /><a href="http://goalindo.blogspot.com/2011/02/stephanie-rice.html">Rice</a> attended Clayfield College in her high school years in Brisbane, Queensland. He is a member of the South Korean national swimming team, based in Taereung, Seoul. He won a gold medal in the 400 meter freestyle and a silver in the 200 meter freestyle events at the 2008 Summer Olympics. He is the first Asian swimmer to win a gold medal in Men's 400 metre freestyle event, and the first Korean to win a medal in swimming.Born in Seoul in 1989, Park graduated from Kyunggi High School in February 2008, and enrolled at Dankook University, where he is majoring in physical education. His father is a saxophone player and his mother is a dancer. He currently serves as a goodwill ambassador for 'Dynamic Korea', South Korea's international image-making campaign, alongside international figure skater Kim Yu-Na.[7] Park Tae-hwan is one of Asia's top Men's Freestyle swimmers. He was voted Most Valuable Player at the 2006 Asian Games in Qatar where he won seven medals including three gold. The 19-year-old trains in Melbourne and is also a Pan Pacific Champion. He was voted Swimming World's Pacific Rim Swimmer of the Year in 2006.<br /><br /><a href="http://kpculture.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/parktaehwan.jpg?w=347&h=450"><img alt="" border="0" src="http://kpculture.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/parktaehwan.jpg?w=347&h=450" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 345px; height: 447px;" /></a><br /><a href="http://asianfansclub.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/park-tae-hwan-seohyun.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" src="http://asianfansclub.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/park-tae-hwan-seohyun.jpg" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 367px; height: 450px;" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://nimg.sulekha.com/sports/original700/park-tae-hwan-2009-8-1-6-10-6.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" src="http://nimg.sulekha.com/sports/original700/park-tae-hwan-2009-8-1-6-10-6.jpg" style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 306px; height: 215px;" /></a>Park began swimming at the age of 5 when his doctor suggested it would be good for his asthma. He began his competitive swimming career at the age of 7, earning several medals in junior competitions. This early success led to Park's selection to the Korean Swimming Federation as a national team member in 2003. At the 2004 Summer Olympics, however, Park was disqualified for a false start in the preliminary heat of the men's 400m freestyle competition. However, shortly thereafter at the 2004 Fina Swimming World Cup, Park was the runner-up in the men's 400 meter freestyle event. Park continued his competitive success in subsequent years, most notably at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, where he won three golds, one silver and three bronze medals, the most medals won by a single athlete at the Games. He also set two Asian Records. For his success, Park was named an Athlete of the Games. At the 2006 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Victoria, Canada, Park won two gold medals (in the 1500 meter freestyle and the 400 meter freestyle) and one silver medal (200 m freestyle). Park was named the 2006 Pacific Rim Male Swimmer of the Year by Swimming World Magazine, beating out Olympic medalist (and 2005 awardee) Australian Grant Hackett for the honor. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, Park won a gold medal in the 400 meter freestyle event and a silver medal in the 200 meter freestyle event. In swimming 1:44.85 in the 200m freestyle final, Park joined Michael Phelps, Ian Thorpe, and Pieter van den Hoogenband as the only men to have ever swum under 1:45 in the event. Much of the press coverage surrounding Park's successes emphasize the fact that these are the first Olympic medals in swimming for South Korea.<br /><br /><br /><a href="http://until3am.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/2007111810275014259.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" src="http://until3am.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/2007111810275014259.jpg" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 334px; height: 411px;" /></a><br /><br />Just after a stunning victory against idol Grant Hackett in the men's 400m freestyle at the 2007 World Aquatics Championships in Melbourne, Park decided to train alone in Sydney, Australia as his own '500-day project', parting with his personal managing team in December 2007. He then joined the Korean national team training base in February 2008 to prepare for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Under Park's personal coach Roh Min-sang and other members of the coaching staff, the national team trained in Malaysia (February 2008) and Guam (May 2008) to prepare Park for his second attempt at the Olympics. He qualified for competition in the men's 200 meter, 400 meter and 1500 meter freestyle events. At the 2009 World Aquatics Championships, Park surprised many after failing to qualify to swim in the finals of the 200 and 400 m freestyle. Some blame Park's poor performance on his decision to wear Speedo's LZR Racer in the championships.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Personal bests</span><br />* 100m 48.70 (2010) 2010 Asian Games Final; won the gold medal<br />* 200m 1:44.80 (2010) Asian Record 2010 Asian Games Final; won the gold medal<br />* 400m 3:41.53 (2010) 2010 Asian Games Final; won the gold medal<br />* 1500m 14:55.03 (2006) 2006 Asian Games Final; won the gold medal</div><div style="border: medium none ; overflow: hidden; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; text-align: left; text-decoration: none;"><a href="http://sportsclb.blogspot.com/2011/02/park-tae-hwan-swimmer.html">source</a><br /></div>

BRENDAN HANSEN

<span style="font-weight: bold;"><br /><br />Brendan Joseph Hansen</span> (born August 15, 1981) is a former American swimmer who specialized in the breaststroke. He is a four-time Olympic medalist.Hansen was born and grew up in Havertown, a suburb about 10 minutes away from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Haverford Senior High School. He swam for many different clubs, including Karakung Swim Club. His main stroke is breaststroke. Hansen's well-known for his unique style of breaststroke, which incorporates a kick that is much narrower than the other swimmers, including his biggest rival, Kosuke Kitajima, who has consistently defeated Hansen. At the 2001 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Hansen won the 200 m breaststroke with a time of 2:10.69 , a championship record. At the 2003 World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona, Hansen won gold in the 4×100 m medley relay, silver in the 100 m breaststroke, and bronze in the 200 m breaststroke. In his first event, the 100 m breaststroke, Hansen finished second to Kosuke Kitajima with a time of 1:00.21. In his second event, the 200 m breaststroke, Hansen finished in third place with a time 2:11.11. In the 4×100 m medley relay, Hansen swam his leg with a time of 59.61 and the American squad finished first with a world record time of 3:31.54.<br /><br />Despite setting the world record in the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke at the 2004 U.S. Olympic trials, Hansen did not manage to win a gold medal in either event at the 2004 Summer Olympics, as he settled for silver in the 100 and bronze in the 200. He would win a gold for his role in the world-record setting 4x100 medley relay. His split on the relay turned out to be one of the fastest in history. There was controversy in Kosuke Kitajima's win in the 100 m breaststroke. The underwater cameras revealed what look like to be an illegal dolphin kick at the start, which could have made the difference in the race. However, the dolphin kick went undetected by race officials, so the US Team could not lodge a protest. At the 2005 World Aquatics Championships in Montreal, Hansen won gold in the 100 m breaststroke, 200 m breaststroke, and 4×100 m medley relay. In his first event, the 100 m breaststroke, Hansen won with a time of 59.37, a championship record. In his second event, the 200 m breaststroke, Hansen won with a time of 2:09.85. In the 4×100 m medley relay, Hansen swam his leg with a time of 59.33 and the American squad finished first with a time of 3:31.85. At the 2006 ConocoPhillips National Championships, Hansen lowered both his world records in the 100 meter and 200 meter breaststroke to 59.13 in the 100 m and 2:08.74 in the 200 m. At the 2006 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships held in Victoria, Canada, Hansen again lowered his world record time in the 200 m breaststroke to 2:08.50. It is notable that he was a quarter of a second behind his best time at the 150 m mark, but he came back 0.6 second faster with a 33.38. At the 2007 World Aquatics Championships in Melbourne, Hansen won gold in the 100 m breaststroke and silver in the 50 m breaststroke. Hansen also was entered in the 200 m breaststroke but did not start. In the 100 m breaststroke, Hansen won with a time of 59.80, 0.16 faster than second place finisher Kosuke Kitajima. In the 50 m breaststroke, Hansen place second with a time of 27.69, just 0.03 slower than first place finisher Oleg Lisogor.Hansen swam the 100 m breaststroke at the 2008 Summer Olympics, his only individual event, finishing in fourth place but earned a gold medal for his part in the 4x100 medley relay. He lost the medal while on a flight home from a party in his hometown near Philadelphia to Austin. It was returned to him the following day.<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.goalindo.blogspot.com/"><br /></a><a href="http://www.goalindo.blogspot.com/"><img alt="" border="0" src="http://www.skip-dawg.com/photos/2008/20080707_wewillrise/images/008.jpg" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 430px; height: 285px;" /></a><a href="http://www.goalindo.blogspot.com/">Brendan Hansen cool performance<br /><br /></a><a href="http://www.goalindo.blogspot.com/"><img alt="" border="0" src="http://alt.coxnewsweb.com/shared-blogs/austin/outandabout/upload/2008/10/olympian_brenda/Hansen.jpg" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 430px; height: 648px;" /></a><a href="http://www.goalindo.blogspot.com/">Brendan Hansen with his gold medal<br /><br /></a><a href="http://www.goalindo.blogspot.com/"><img alt="" border="0" src="http://www3.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/Olympics+Day+2+Swimming+12THgpfrWqql.jpg" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 430px; height: 270px;" /></a><a href="http://www.goalindo.blogspot.com/">Brendan Hansen performance at swimming pool<br /><br /></a><a href="http://www.goalindo.blogspot.com/"><img alt="" border="0" src="http://cache.boston.com/resize/bonzai-fba/Globe_Photo/2008/06/30/1214881336_3981/539w.jpg" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 429px; height: 352px;" /></a><a href="http://www.goalindo.blogspot.com/">Brendan Hansen expression when after he won the match<br /></a><a href="http://www.goalindo.blogspot.com/"><br /></a></div><div style="border: medium none ; overflow: hidden; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; text-align: left; text-decoration: none;"><br /></div>
