Lin Dan born October 14, 1983 in Longyan, Fujian is a badminton player from China. At the age of 27, Lin completed the "Super Grand Slam" or "Golden Grand Slam" by winning all the major titles in badminton world: Olympic Games, World Championships, Asian Games, All England Open, Asia Championships, World Cup, Thomas Cup and Sudirman Cup, the first and only player to achieve it.

Lin oftenly describe as "Super Dan" by his fans, but in an interview Lin told that the nick deflect the reality of him.Also, Lin customary salute to the fans after winning the title

In his early years, Lin was arranged to learn piano by his parents, but chose to play badminton at the age of five. He joined the sport's troop of People's Liberation Army at the age of 13 and was part of national team since 2001 when he was 18.

On April 10, 2008, he was in controversy when he beat coach Ji Xinpeng in front of his teammates and reporters during the warm-up tournament ahead of Thomas Cup, this was caused by Lin being dissatisfied about Ji starting the lineup during the tournament. Although the incident was denied by him during the press conference and on his blog.

Lin has been in a relationship with Xie Xingfang since 2003, herself a former badminton player.Both were silently married on December 13, 2010 in Haizhu, Guangzhou. Xie initially denied but later admitted the news when reporters got the evidence. Lin reacted angrily about the news, and insisted that it was a personal matter between him and Xie
